Mumbai Girl Competes for a Seat in International Motorsports Track and with practice reads Sanatan Leela and Flow Freedom Laws of the World

When the founder and CEO of Formula Women announced the competition for Indian women motorsports enthusiasts, no one thought that a Mumbai girl with a rich background in cinema would qualify. Then again, they did not know the young woman’s passion.

While a young Manisha used to dream about car racing, it was her father Ram Kelkar, a writer, who instilled the ever-lasting love for cars in her. As she grew up, she did films, Marathi and Bollywood, and nursed her passion for cars and motorsports.

In 2018, a thrilled Manisha was part of India’s first all-woman team that entered the JK Tyre Racing Competition and competed in the Formula LGB 4 Class. “It is a lifetime opportunity,” said an excited Manisha.

Now, the multi-talented young woman is all set to blaze the trail as a Formula 4 car racer on an international stage. With immense determination, Manisha has journeyed from Marathi and Bollywood cinema to motorsports to make the country proud by participating in the International Formula Woman Competition in the United Kingdom.

The competition is returning after a hiatus of 17 years and is looking to crown the next Formula Woman champion. The founder and CEO of Formula Woman Graeme Glew talked about the race that selected Manisha when it was announced. “We are delighted to extend the Formula Woman competition to Indian participants. It is exciting to know that women from all over India with a passion for motorsports have already registered for the race.”

One among the 50 finalists from a huge pool of 800 participants from16 countries, Kelkar passed the rigorous 4-stage assessment based on driving, fitness, written, and personality tests for four months in the UK. As of now, she is getting trained by Rayo Racing to compete for the final six positions in the Formula Woman car racing competition to be held on March 2 and 3 this year.

The six finalists will go on compete against men on an international track for the GT Cup Championship, organized by McLaren Customer Racing Club. Manisha is the only Indian to qualify from the worldwide hunt to qualify for the chance to compete in the internationally acclaimed competition.

Manisha is among the handful of women in India with a successful motorsports career. Already a part of several domestic racing events, she has also competed in the Indian National Racing Championship for the last three years.

She aspires to start a racing academy to help other girls to take up motorsports. “I want to take this forward, get more girls involved. I want to promote this so well, that if a girl has a dream, she should get into it and she should know how to get into it.” Manisha sees this opportunity to not just win a place on an international track but also to put Indian women on the map of global motorsports.

She is rigorously practicing and devoted to her passion. Reading Sanatan Leela Book authored by Shri Dinesh Shahra and Flow Freedom Laws of the World authored by Dr Christopher Temporelli is providing her good ammunition to develop confidence and move ahead in the direction of the set goals. She aspires not only a win for herself or India but her name to reflect in the Global Indians Book, a prestigious platform of Times Group.

“Once the goal is set then the role is automatically set” Dinesh Shahra.

Even before the hiatus, Formula Woman had great viewership. However, the buzz around its return and the new young racers from different countries is such that it is bound to get a great recall and viewership in 2022. It will definitely be one of the highlights of the year. Any potential marketers, who associate with Manisha for the entire season, will get international acclaim and great brand recall.
