Football NFL picks against the spread, Divisional Round weekend: Can the 49ers upset the Packers?

We’re continuing in the PLAYOFFS (!!!) in the NFL, with the Divisional Round coming up, with games on Saturday and Sunday. That means it’s time once again for our weekly look at the point spreads in order to help you win some money.

Last week, Charles McDonald went 4-2 (117-123 in regular season), Prince Grimes went 5-1 (44-44 overall in regular season) and Charles Curtis went 4-2 (128-123 in regular season)

We now go to them for comments before they make their picks:

Charles M: 4-2 baby! Let’s goooooooooo!

Prince: I’m probably an honored dead-ball whistle away from a perfect week. Riding high.

Charles C: LOOK AT US! Got to keep this momentum going.

Cincinnati Bengals at Tennessee Titans (-3.5)

Charles M: Bengals

I’m not sure who I think will win this game, but I feel confident enough that Joe Burrow and crew can keep it close with explosive plays and touchdowns.

Prince: Bengals

I’m taking the points with confidence, though I don’t really expect the Bengals to win. Tennessee’s run-first style is perfect to keep Cincy’s offense on the sideline but doesn’t exactly scream blowout. I could see this coming down to a field goal or less.

Charles C: Bengals

I will say this: I think we’re all underrating the heck out of the Titans right now. Derrick Henry might be back, the defense might step up and experience in the playoffs counts. So I’m not exactly the most confident here.

San Francisco 49ers at Green Bay Packers (-5.5)

Charles M: Packers

I think the 49ers are a tough out for the Packers, but I’m rolling with Aaron Rodgers.

Prince: 49ers

If this was being played in San Francisco, I might actually take the Packers at this number, crazy enough. But with the possibility of wet weather in Green Bay taking the ball out of the air, I think it’ll play out closer.

Charles C: 49ers

Yes, the Packers are arguably the best team left in the postseason. But the weather plus the Niners’ balance on both sides of the ball makes me think they can keep this one close.

Los Angeles Rams at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2.5)

Charles M: Buccaneers

This one is extremely tough for me, but I’m going to roll with the defending champions against the upstart Rams. Tom Brady and the Buccaneers offense are perfectly set up to counteract the Rams pass rush with their quick passing game.

Prince: Rams

I just feel like the Bucs’ injuries have to catch up to them at some point, especially if Leonard Fournette is MIA again. This is where all the moves the Rams made are supposed to pay off, and I think they will.

Charles C: Rams

Let’s be bold here. The Rams’ defense is the key here to me. If the secondary locks down the Bucs’ receivers and gives Aaron Donald an extra second to get through a very tough Tampa O-line, Tom Brady will struggle. As long as Matthew Stafford keeps the mistakes to a minimum, an upset isn’t out of the question.

Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs (-1.5)

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Charles M: Bills

I think the Bills are straight up the better team. This pass defense is as good as any that has come along in recent years and they’ll be ready to make life difficult for Patrick Mahomes.

Prince: Bills

In what basically amounts to a pick ’em, I’m actually going to ride the Bills. This is a shock to even myself, who wouldn’t have thought to take Buffalo before last week’s thrashing of the Pats. But if both offenses show up, I trust the Bills defense more than KC’s, and that’s what this comes down to.

Charles C: Chiefs

Look: It would delight me to no end if Buffalo wins this game. This Bills team is so fun to watch. But let’s face it — the Chiefs are looking like the Chiefs again, and I’m not going to bet against some Patrick Mahomes magic late. Kansas City 27, Buffalo 25.
